A techie was arrested by police in Mumbai for allegedly issuing a death threat to NCP supremo Sharad Pawar, the reports said on Monday.
The reports said the accused Sagar Barve is working in the data feeding and analytics section of a private firm.
"The Mumbai Crime Branch, which was probing the case, brought Barve to Mumbai. He was presented in court and has been remanded in police custody till Tuesday," the reports quoted Mumbai Police official as having said.
It stated Barve has allegedly posted death threats against Sharad Pawar on Facebook.
According to police, he had created two fake accounts to post the threats, it mentioned.
In reaction to the alleged threats, Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde had directed the police to beef up security for the former CM Pawar.
Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis had also said that although there are ideological differences with the NCP, issuing threats to a prominent Opposition leader won't be tolerated, it mentioned.
