In a shocking incident that unfolded in Rajasthan's Dausa district, a police constable, identified as Mahesh Kumar Gurjar, found himself entangled in a web of allegations that led to a brutal confrontation with locals. The constable is now a fugitive after being accused of raping a married woman, a matter that has stirred both public outrage and official action.
According to authorities, the disturbing incident occurred when Constable Gurjar allegedly entered the home of a 30-year-old woman in Baswa under the cover of Tuesday night. The woman was alone at the time, and it's reported that Gurjar sexually assaulted her. When the woman's distress echoed through the neighborhood, quick-acting neighbors apprehended the constable. Soon after, the victim's family members returned and joined the confrontation, subjecting Gurjar to a physical assault, as PTI reported.
The situation escalated as the constable was bound to a cot, an embodiment of the locals' fury. The scene, resembling a poignant symbol of vigilante justice, marked a moment of collective anger against the alleged transgression. Baswa police station personnel subsequently intervened, extracting Gurjar from the clutches of the enraged crowd. After a medical examination, he was surprisingly released.
However, the incident's gravity soon came to the fore as the victim officially reported the assault, prompting swift action. The station house officer (SHO) of Baswa police station faced suspension due to his alleged failure to promptly report the incident to higher-ups on Tuesday itself. Alongside the SHO, Gurjar also faced suspension from his duties at a different police station.
