Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) leader Ravinder Gosai was shot dead by unidentified men on a motorcycle in Ludhiana's Kailash Nagar, earlier this morning.
The incident took place in the Gagandeep Colony of Ludhiana, near Gosai's house at approximately 7:45 am. He was returning from the RSS branch.
Gosai, who was 60, died on the spot. The police are investigating the matter.
Recently, Punjab has seen a string of such attacks. The CBI had earlier taken over the probe for the murder of RSS leader Brig Jagdish Gagneja was killed in September last year, however, no leads have been found so far.
The CBI has also not been able to nab the culprits of Rulda Singh, state chief of the Rashtriya Sikh Sangat, an RSS affiliate who was killed in 2009 in a similar fashion.
Another RSS leader Naresh Kumar escaped with a few injuries when two motorcycle-borne assailants opened fire at him in January last year and fled.
All the cases remain unsolved.
