Security forces recovered arms, ammunition, and explosives, including nine grenades and an improvised explosive device (IED), along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu's Akhnoor sector. The discovery occurred during a joint search operation by the police and the Army in Palanwallah near the LoC early in the morning, as reported by PTI.
A box found during the operation raised suspicion, prompting the involvement of a bomb disposal squad.
The recovered items include an IED, a pistol, two magazines, 38 rounds of ammunition, and nine grenades. Officials believe that a drone was used to drop this consignment, intended for use by terrorists.
The box's resemblance to similar drops in the past suggests a consistent modus operandi by terrorists based across the LoC.
In response to the discovery, the Khour police station has registered an FIR, and an investigation is underway to trace the origins and intended recipients of the dropped weaponry.
