The Tamil Nadu government announced on Monday that more than 5,000 additional beneficiaries have been incorporated into the state's flagship program, which provides monthly grants to female heads of households for the month of October.

Furthermore, the government has removed 8,833 names of individuals who were either deceased or ineligible for the program.

To ensure that no eligible beneficiary is overlooked, the government identified qualified family heads, including transgender individuals, and included an additional 5,041 people in the list of recipients for the Kalaignar Magalir Urimai Thogai Thittam program. Simultaneously, 8,833 claimants who were found to be deceased or ineligible have been disqualified, as per an official statement.

On October 14, the government transferred Rs 1,000 directly into the bank accounts of 1,06,48,406 beneficiaries, as October 15 was a holiday. An additional 87,785 beneficiaries without proper bank accounts received their entitlement through money orders. The scheme was inaugurated by Chief Minister M. K. Stalin on September 15.
