Tamil Nadu CM MK Stalin Announces 4% DA Hike Of Government Officers, Teacher From July This Year

On the recommendation of the 7th Pay Commission, the government of Tamil Nadu has announced a 4 per cent hike from July 2023.

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin announced on Wednesday that the dearness allowance for the second half of 2023 will be increased from existing 42 per cent to 46 per cent for government officers and teachers on the recommendation of the 7th Pay Commission.

In an official notice, the Tamil Nadu government said, "This government continues to protect the welfare of government officials and teachers who work with the government in the implementation of various schemes for the welfare of the people. Despite the severe financial crisis and debt burden left behind by the previous government, this government is working to fulfill its promises on various demands of government officials and teachers."

Who will benefit from this hike?

According to the TN government, about 16 lakh government employees, teachers, pensioners and family pensioners will benefit from this hike.

They also mentioned that this step will result in an additional expenditure of Rs 2546.16 crore per year to the government.

Further, the notice also mentioned that MK Stalin will, "kindly consider the continuous demand of the government employees and teachers and whenever announcing the increase in the gratuity for the Union Government employees, the Government of Tamil Nadu will immediately follow it and implement the increase in the gratuity for the government employees and teachers."

"For the benefit of teachers and pensioners, the government will allocate additional funds for this purpose," it added.
