Telangana Man Arrested After Saying That He Would Have 'Killed BR Ambedkar', Stokes Controversy

A Telangana man has stoked controversy after he used derogatory words against Dr BR Ambedkar.

According to a report by India Today, the man, identified as Hamara Prasad, was arrested by the police after he recorded a video making provocative remarks against Dr BR Ambedkar. In the purported video, he held a book by Dr BR Ambedkar and said, “I would have killed Ambedkar like how Godse shot Gandhi."

Prasad was booked by the Hyderabad Police under Sections 153 A and 505 (2) of the Indian Penal Code.

The arrest followed after RS Praveen Kumar, Telangana chief of the Bahujan Samaj Party, demanded action against Prasad, stated the report.

“Today cybercrime police station, Hyderabad City arrested Hamara prasad, registered FIR 256/2023 U/S 153A,505(2) IPC on abusing Dr BR Ambedkar and forwarding videos through social media platforms,” the police said.
