Delhi-NCR woke up to fresh spells of rain on Thursday morning, a day after the national capital recorded a maximum temperature of 40 degrees and a minimum temperature of 25/4 degrees Celsius.
The Met department earlier on late Wednesday night said that thunderstorms with light to moderate intensity rain and gusty winds with a speed of 30-50 km/h would occur over many places of Delhi and NCR ( Bahadurgarh, Noida, Greater Noida, Gurugram, Faridabad, Manesar, Ballabhgarh) and Safidon, Jind, Panipat, Gohana, Hansi, Hisar, Rohtak, Jhajjar, Farukhnagar, Palwal, Nuh (Haryana) Bhiwari (Rajasthan) during the next two hours.
The weather department also advised the public not to lie on concrete floors and not lean against concrete walls, to unplug electrical/ electronic appliances and to get out of water bodies immediately.
On Wednesday, the Central Pollution Control Board data showed Delhi's AQI at 395 ('very poor') at 9 am, just five notches short of touching 'severe' level. An AQI between zero and 50 is considered 'good', 51 and 100 'satisfactory', 101 and 200 'moderate', 201 and 300 'poor', 301 and 400 'very poor', and 401 and 500 'severe'.
