A tragic incident unfolded in South Delhi as a 30-year-old man, Piyush Pal, lost his life in a motorcycle collision at a traffic signal. The incident, which occurred on October 28 around 10 pm near Panchsheel Enclave, was captured by a nearby CCTV camera.
In the video footage, the motorcycle ridden by the documentary filmmaker changed lanes on a busy road when it was struck from behind by another bike. The collision sent Pal's motorcycle skidding along the road for a short distance. Bystanders found Pal in a critical condition, and he was swiftly transported to a hospital. Despite medical efforts, Pal succumbed to his injuries, according to media reports.
Piyush Pal, who worked as a freelance filmmaker in Gurugram, resided in South Delhi's Kalkaji. A close friend of the filmmaker expressed distress, claiming that Pal's life might have been saved if passersby had come to his aid. He alleged that bystanders did not offer assistance and, instead, took pictures as Pal lay bleeding on the roadside for more than 20 minutes. To compound the tragedy, his mobile phone and Go-Pro camera were stolen.
The friend emphasized their desire for justice rather than seeking compensation, highlighting the disappearance of Pal's mobile phone, which rang until 10 pm, and his Go-Pro camera, a crucial tool for his work. In response to the CCTV footage, the police have registered a case of rash driving against the other motorcycle rider involved, identified as Bunty.
