Land acquisition by a cement major amid allegations of irregularities in the process is a major issue in this constituency. Outlook's Abhik Bhattacharya spoke to Aam Aadmi Party candidate Lal Singh Barman, who has campaigned in favour of tribals of 32 villages whose land was acquired. There were also allegations of compensation lower than as stipulated by the government, being provided to affected tribal villagers. Barman is up against Congress MLA Dr Hiralal Alawa, who is a strong Adivasi leader. He had last time defeated the BJP candidate by a margin of nearly 40,000 votes. The question is, will Dr Alawa manage to retain his seat this time?
