In a tense incident unfolding in Manipur's Moreh, heavy gunfire erupted between unidentified gunmen and police commandos around 3:50 pm on Saturday. Eyewitnesses revealed that the assailants specifically targeted vehicles transporting police commandos as they headed towards the Key Location Point (KLP) from Moreh, as reported by PTI. 

During the attack, one policeman sustained splinter injuries while crossing the M Chahnou village section of the Imphal-Moreh road, confirmed an officer. The injured officer is currently receiving treatment at the 5 Assam Rifles camp.

Preliminary reports suggest that indiscriminate firing is ongoing in the vicinity of the New Moreh entrance gate and M Chahnou village. Additionally, sources indicate that the situation escalated further with the burning of two houses in Moreh.

The incident underscores the heightened tension in the region, raising concerns about the safety of both law enforcement personnel and civilians in Manipur's Moreh. Authorities are actively responding to the situation as it unfolds, with investigations underway to identify and apprehend the perpetrators behind this act of violence.
