Haryana's Rohtak district witnessed an unsettling incident on Friday at 10:30 pm when unidentified individuals allegedly threw stones at the gate of a mosque in Aanwal village. Mosque cleric, Iqbal, promptly lodged a case with the police, leading to an increase in security measures around the religious site.
Rohtak's Additional Superintendent of Police, Medha Bhushan, and her team immediately responded to the situation, investigating the matter. The police have registered a case under relevant sections, including IPC Section 295, which pertains to "injuring or defiling a place of worship with intent to insult the religion of any class," against the unknown perpetrators, according to PTI.
This incident comes in the aftermath of communal clashes that shook Nuh and other parts of the state, leaving six people dead, including two home guards and a cleric. The clashes originally stemmed from an attempt to halt a Vishva Hindu Parishad procession, which eventually escalated and spread to Gurugram, causing significant unrest over the past few days.
