The countdown to the inauguration of the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya on January 22 has begun.

The Yogi Adityanath government aims to set a world record by installing 470 solar-powered street lights in Ayodhya, surpassing the current record held by Malham, Saudi Arabia, with 468 lights over 9.7 km.

UPNEDA (Uttar Pradesh New and Renewable Energy Development Agency) will install 470 solar-powered lights covering a 10.2 km stretch from Guptar Ghat to Laxman Ghat, promoting the use of renewable energy.

After installation, the government will seek inspection from Guinness World Records, potentially declaring it the world's longest solar-powered street.

Currently, 310 lights are operational; the final stretch between Guptar Ghat and Nirmali Kund awaits completion.

The 4.4-watt LED solar lights, featuring smart technology, automatically switch off in daylight. Linked to a renewable energy grid, they contribute to Ayodhya's goal of becoming a solar city.
