A Dalit woman was beaten up allegedly by a police officer, identified as Raj Kishore Singh, in Sitamarhi, Bihar. The incident, which took place in public view, has raised concerns after a video went viral on social media.

The video widely shared on social platforms depicts Singh, in uniform, striking the woman with a stick while onlookers watch the incident.

Sitamarhi Police has responded to the incident, announcing a probe into the matter. According to their statement, the police action was taken to intervene in a street altercation between two women.

Vinod Kumar, Sub-divisional Police Officer (SDPO), addressed the issue in a video statement, linking the incident to the kidnapping of a girl. 

He explained, "The girl was rescued, but the two sides visited the police station and engaged in a fight among themselves outside. This led to a traffic jam on the road, and the cop used his baton to disperse the crowd".
