According to reports, it all began with a dispute over some money taken as loan by three Dalits - Pichaiah, Kanakamma and Lakshmamma from one Joseph. When they expressed their inability to repay the loan, Joseph lodged a complaint with the Rapur police following which police took one of the local youth into custody.
The reports added that the villagers have claimed that the youth was tortured in the name of interrogation.
Four cops were injured in the incident including Lakshman and the constable who received head injuries.
This incident comes days after a group of policemen were allegedly assaulted by drunk men in Nellore district itself after the police tried to stop a dance performance. The police later booked 60 persons for organising the 'obscene' dance performance and attacking the police personnel.
