Bhajan Lal Sharma has been named Rajasthan’s next CM bringing an end to the suspense surrounding the leadership position. Sharma’s name was proposed by former Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje who was in the list of contenders as well.

Bhajan Lal Sharma, who ran for elections in the Sanganer constituency, secured a resounding victory in the recent state polls and  triumphed over his Congress opponent, winning by a substantial margin of over 48,000 votes.

Sharma has served as the party's state general secretary four times and has previously been associated with the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and the Akhil Bhartiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP).

Although he hails from Bharatpur he was not given a ticket there as he wasn’t believed to be a strong candidate for the constituency.

Born in 1968, Sharma holds a Masters degree in politics from Rajasthan University. He has one criminal case registered against him and has assets worth Rs 1.4 crore, according to The Indian Express.

The first-time MLA was chosen from among of pool of candidates including Gajendra Shekhawat, Mahant Balaknath, Diya Kumari, Anita Bhadel, Manju Baghmar and Arjun Ram Meghwal.
