The Delhi High Court on June 15 granted bail to Natasha Narwal and Devangana Kalita of JNU and Jamia Millia Islamia’s Asif Iqbal Tanha in a northeast Delhi riots case of 2020. In suppressing dissent, the State has blurred the line between protest and terrorist activity, and if such a mindset gains traction, it would be a “sad day for democracy”, the court said.
