If you are excited to find out who wins the Oscars 2024, want to see what host Jimmy Kimmel brings to this year’s ceremony and experience all the glitz and glamour they bring out in L.A. this Sunday, March 10, you can watch the 96th Academy Awards on TV or online in many countries around the world. Unless, you have one of the rare tickets to attend in person, of course.

The biggest movies of the year will be celebrated in the prestigious awards ceremony that will broadcast from the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, California, where late-night talk-show host Jimmy Kimmel will host for the fourth time.

The film industry’s biggest stars will gather at the Dolby Theatre at Ovation Hollywood on Sunday for the 2024 Oscars, or, as this reporter calls it, the one (film) awards show to rule them all.

We're super close now to the pinnacle of the awards season on March 10, and we can show you where to watch the Oscars live stream from anywhere, for free. While the show is locked behind a paid cable channel in many countries, we've found an option with a free official broadcast, and you can join in, too.

Plus, keep in mind that Oscar day is the first day of the U.S. switching to Daylight Saving Time this year, meaning clocks in the U.S. are advanced by an hour starting from March 10. So watch out if watching from abroad as some countries don’t change clocks and others do so on different dates. For example, Europe, including the U.K., will change to summertime on March 31 this year.

For the fourth year in a row, China will not air the Oscars. The Academy Awards ceremony will, however, be back on air in the former colony of Hong Kong, along with most major countries and territories around the globe.

So, people living or traveling in other parts of the world will have various ways to watch the red carpet, awards presentations and acceptance speeches.

When are the 2024 Oscars?

This year, the Oscars will air live from the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles on Sunday, March 10, beginning at 7 p.m. EST. Daylight saving time begins March 10, so keep that in mind when scheduling your watch party.

When is the Oscars red carpet?

E! has a full day of Oscars coverage planned, starting with "E! Brunch at the Oscars" at 2 p.m. E.T. and red carpet show "Live from E!: The Oscars" at 4 p.m. E.T. ABC's preshow at 6:30 p.m. E.T., hosted by Vanessa Hudgens and Julianne Hough, will lead into the live awards show.

Who is hosting?

Late-night TV host Jimmy Kimmel — whose show airs on ABC — is returning to emcee the Oscars for the fourth time.

“This year, I am sitting in a movie theater watching ‘Barbie’ and thinking, ‘Well, maybe I’ll do this again, because at least I have a point of reference with everyone,’” Kimmel recently told The Times about accepting the gig once more. Knowing “there was a movie that people had seen … just makes the job easier.

Where to stream the Oscars this year:

The 2024 Academy Awards will air live on ABC. Many of ABC's shows also air on Hulu the next day, but so far, it has not been confirmed for The Oscars. Those without access to ABC can still watch the Oscars live with streaming services that offer live television, including Sling TV, FuboTV and Hulu + Live TV.

What channel is Oscars 2024 on?

In the USA, you'll find the Oscars on ABC. You have various options if you don't currently have access on your cable TV package. One is signing up for a cord-cutting service like Fubo, which comes with a substantial selection of cable channels and no long-term commitments - there's even a seven-day free trial. The live TV tier of Hulu also carries ABC, but there's no free trial.

If you don't want such an extensive list of channels and prefer a more straightforward, cheaper option, then similar live TV service Sling TV's Blue tier also carries ABC in a large number of US states - the first month is on offer at $22.50 today, and you're free to cancel at any time.

If you'd rather avoid signing up for any new paid streaming service, keep reading for tips on how to watch the free live UK broadcast instead.

In the UK, free broadcast channel ITV has secured rights for the Oscars this year, wrestling the rights away from Sky TV. If you're in the UK, you can watch it on TV or head online and tune in via the free ITVX service. You might be able to watch it on-demand the day after, but we also wouldn't bank on this as live events sometimes don't make it onto on-demand viewing platforms afterward.

For anyone considering this option from outside of the UK, you'll find that without a VPN, you'll be blocked from watching this Oscars live stream. But don't give up just yet.
