Subimal ‘Chuni’ Goswami is Indian football’s original superstar, a nimble-footed striker who led India to a historic gold in the 1962 Asiad in Bangkok. Also a cricketer, he captained Bengal in Ranji Trophy. Decades after the Mohun Bagan loyalist retired, the India Post honoured him with a postage stamp. The stamp was released on January 15—his 82nd birthday. Gostho Paul (1998) and Dr Talimeren Ao (2018) were the other Indian footballers with postage stamps.
