Vatsala, possibly the oldest elephant in the world, has become blind due to an incurable cataract. She was a nurse and midwife to pregnant elephants for three decades in Panna tiger reserve, but now spends most of her time in a sickbay as her digestive system has also collapsed. But what went around has come around—and marvellously so for Vatsala. The young elephants she birthed and took care of are now taking care of their old mother/nanny.
