A Bengaluru Ola cab driver allegedly locked up a 23-year-old woman passenger inside the car and misbehaved with her, reported ANI.
According to reports, the driver used the 'child-lock' facility to hold the women passenger hostage in the vehicle on Sunday night. The reports added that the woman was travelling alone from Indiranagar to BTM Layout when the cab driver parked the car on an isolated road and allegedly locked the car before groping her.
The frightened woman then banged on the windows of the cab to alert the people. Seeing the women calling for help, the driver opened the car and let the woman out.
But the ordeal did not end there. The cabbie identified as Rajshekhar Reddy made several calls to the woman, threatening her with dire consequences if she complained against him. However, the woman mustered the courage and lodged a complaint against the driver.
Meantime, Ola has issued a statement after suspending the driver, stating that safety of customers is their priority and they have "zero tolerance" for such acts.
"We regret the unfortunate experience the customer had during their ride. We have zero tolerance to such incidents & the driver has been suspended from the platform as an immediate action upon receiving the complaint, " an Ola spokesperson told ANI.
"We have also urged the customer to lodge a formal complaint with the authorities. Safety of customers is our priority and we will continue to extend our full support to this investigation against the said driver, "the Ola spokesperson added.
