Signs to look out for
- The child tells someone: drops hints about the abuse to another child
- Makes ambiguous statements about harming another child
- Is anxious, irritable. Bed-wetting, changes in eating/sleep patterns.
- Under-performance, sometimes over-achievement, refusal to go to school
- Conduct difficulties in older children
- Physical symptoms: frequent urinary tract infections, pain in and injury to genitalia, presence of venereal diseases
- If the child knows parents are listening, they will talk
