Love is risky. In our country, it can be deadly. In a village in Uttar Pradesh, two teenaged lovers, Vishal and Sonu, were dragged to the roof of a house and hung by their own family members. Vishal was a Brahmin and Sonu a Jat—a lethal combination, totally unacceptable to the village folk. There have been similar stories from all over the country of young lovers being cruelly terminated for not asking each other: "love your eyes sweetie, but what’s your caste?"
