How To Deal With A Poisoned Patient

  •   Remain calm
  •   Do not induce vomiting unless told to do so by the centre
  •   Save the poison and the container
  •   Remove the patient to hospital on NPIC advice

    If you cannot contact the Centre within 15 minutes, take the following measures. INHALED POISON

  •   Remove the victim to fresh air
  •   Avoid fumes
  •   In case of no breathing, try artificial respiration

    SWALLOWED POISON

  • Do not the feed the unconscious victim through the mouth

    SKIN POISONING

  •   Remove dirty clothes
  •   Flood the skin with water
  •   Apply soap to the affected part and rinse
  •   Protect yourself

    POISON IN THE EYE

  • Rinse the eye with a steady stream of lukewarm water for several minutes

    TEN TOXIC TERRORS

    Aluminium phosphide, Barbiturates, Benzodiazepines, Carbamates, Copper sulphate, Dhatura, Kerosene, Phenytoin sodium, Morphine, Organophosphorous compounds
