Cellar, created in a semi-basement with exposed bricks in red-and-mustard paint giving it the look and feel of a wine cellar, was started by Kanika Khanna in 2002. It’s the only place in Lucknow serving authentic Italian food. Though most people still visit the place asking for pizzas and sizzlers, there are also connoisseurs who go for risotto or roesti. The dishes are original but subtle changes have been made in ingredients and flavours to suit the Indian palate.
Shanghai Surprise, situated in the centre of the city, is a Thai and Chinese food restaurant with shrimp and prawn available all year. It’s the only place where one can enjoy a double fried ice cream or a pineapple toffee with honey along with spicy Thai noodles or Indonesian Nasi Goreng.
