Definitely. I grew up there, and have seen Durga Pujas up close since childhood.
Why do you refer to Durga Puja as an art exhibition?
Over decades, Calcutta’s Durga Puja has transformed into a unique and rich blend of commercial, fine and indigenous art. One has to experience this carnivalesque display to believe it.
What is the aim of the tour?
To showcase the vibrancy of this magnificent festival to a wider audience.
Was there any selection criteria for the photographers?
Yes, a keen interest in photography and a passion for seeing things differently.

Trying new things is always energising. With BlowUp, I share what I have learnt and unlearnt.

They are what I call ‘my version of photogrammes’—images created without using a camera.

Keep taking pictures that touch you or evoke a feeling. Don’t get caught up in the race for megapixels and gadgets.
