Halil Amir wants to continue his rapid ascent up ONE’s lightweight MMA ranks with another thrilling performance on Friday, November 3.

The #4-ranked Turkish phenom will put his 9-0 record on the line against Ahmed “Wolverine” Mujtaba in a fan-friendly battle at ONE Fight Night 16: Haggerty vs. Andrade on Prime Video in U.S. primetime from Bangkok, Thailand.

With Amir boasting eight finishes among his nine career MMA victories and Mujtaba having eight from 10, it’s clear that each man will head into Lumpinee Boxing Stadium with a stoppage atop their wishlist.

But while the Amir Team representative knows “Wolverine” will come at him aggressively, he isn’t fazed by anything his upcoming opponent brings to the table.

He told onefc.com:

“I wouldn’t say Ahmed is strong in one certain aspect, but he knows a little bit of everything. He’s had good victories, but he also had defeats. I didn’t see anything impressive in his style.

“I think he will try to brawl with me, but I will be ready for anything. It will definitely be a good fight. I advise you not to blink.”

Amir’s first two appearances in ONE were certainly fiery.

He debuted with a sensational knockout of durable Russian star Timofey Nastyukhin before taking a decision win over Maurice Abevi this past April.

Even though he didn’t finish Abevi, the 29-year-old still delivered several highlight-reel moments, and he plans on offering up more of the same against Mujtaba:

“As always, my plan is to go out and put on a beautiful and spectacular fight. I don’t like to predict, but I will aim for the finish.”

Unbeaten Halil Amir Aiming For World Title Shot

With a top-five rank in ONE’s lightweight MMA division, Halil Amir is gunning for the top spot and a World Title opportunity.

He sees Ahmed Mujtaba as the next rung on the ladder, but the humble Turkish striker is not one to start making demands if he gets the victory.

Instead, he will focus on the task at hand and let the result speak for itself:

“This fight is the next step to the fight for the belt.

“I don’t know what plans ONE has for the lightweight division. I need to get past Ahmed first, and then we’ll see. I’m always ready.”

Still, Amir’s big aspirations are what drives him forward.

While he’s happy to take his time and square off with anyone matchmakers put in front of him, he is hungry to become a ONE World Champion – in two divisions, no less.

He added:

“I want to become the undefeated ONE Lightweight MMA World Champion, and then drop down to featherweight, fight for the belt, and become a double champion.”
