This Friday, November 3, the world’s largest martial arts organization will return to the iconic Lumpinee Boxing Stadium in Bangkok for an intriguing fight card that will air live in U.S. primetime to more than 190 countries globally.
ONE Fight Night 16: Haggerty vs. Andrade on Prime Video is topped by a massive World Champion vs. World Champion showdown, features a historic World Title co-main event, and includes a number of ONE’s most beloved superstars.
Before the action gets underway in just a few days, we take a closer look at why this lineup is a must-see event for martial arts fans.
#1 History Will Be Made
The card’s main and co-main events will see a pair of names etched into the history books.
In the headline attraction, reigning bantamweight MMA kingpin Fabricio “Wonder Boy” Andrade will square off with bantamweight Muay Thai titleholder Jonathan “The General” Haggerty for the vacant ONE Bantamweight Kickboxing World Title.
With one man primed to leave Bangkok as a two-sport ONE World Champion – and with both coming off epic stoppage victories – fans can expect an all-out war for as long as this high-stakes matchup lasts.
Before that, the first-ever ONE Welterweight Submission Grappling World Champion will be crowned.
That matchup will see 20-year-old American BJJ phenom Tye Ruotolo lock horns with decorated Russian veteran Magomed Abdulkadirov in what promises to be a fast-paced showcase of world-class ground fighting.
#2 Two Must-See Rematches
Rivals will collide in a pair of pivotal rematches designed to produce fireworks.
In strawweight MMA action, Filipino star Lito Adiwang aims to avenge a 2022 loss to compatriot Jeremy Miado. That first clash ended prematurely when Adiwang suffered a devastating knee injury, forcing him to the sidelines for 18 months.
Plus, Thai knockout artist Sinsamut Klinmee and British scrapper Liam Nolan will go toe-to-toe in a lightweight Muay Thai rematch of their July 2022 battle, which saw Sinsamut score an epic knockout to propel himself into a pair of World Title fights.
Since their first encounter, Nolan has bounced back to the win column with a strong showing against Eddie Abasolo, and he could make his own case for a World Title challenge if he defeats “Aquaman” this time.
#3 Halil Amir Aims To Stay Unbeaten And Keep Top-Five Ranking
Undefeated Turkish standout Halil Amir hopes to continue his march toward the top of the lightweight MMA division when he takes on the talented and well-rounded Ahmed Mujtaba.
The 29-year-old Amir has looked nothing short of dominant through his two appearances in ONE, starching veteran brawler Timofey Nastyukhin and running through Maurice Abevi to secure the #4 contender spot in the talent-laden weight class.
He has all the makings of a future ONE World Champion, but first, he’ll need to get past the man known as “Wolverine.”
Mujtaba has become Pakistan’s top mixed martial artist while displaying ruthless finishing instincts both on the feet and the mat. On Friday, he hopes to derail Amir’s hype train and steal his spot in the lightweight MMA rankings.
#4 A Pair Of Kickboxing Prodigies Return
The main event won’t be the only showcase of elite kickboxing.
Teenage prodigy Anna “Supergirl” Jaroonsak will return for her third consecutive appearance in the sport against decorated Spanish striker Cristina Morales. The 19-year-old pushed former atomweight kickboxing queen Stamp Fairtex to the limit and followed that up with a dominant showing against Lara Fernandez.
“Supergirl” now hopes to continue her climb toward the divisional gold with an impressive outing against three-time Kickboxing World Champion Morales.
Plus, 20-year-old Chinese superstar Zhang Peimian will have another chance to showcase his impressive speed and concussive power when he battles European Kickboxing Champion Rui Botelho.
With a victory, the hard-charging Zhang might punch his ticket to a World Title rematch with reigning strawweight kickboxing king Jonathan Di Bella.
#5 Seksan’s U.S. Primetime Debut
Seksan “The Man Who Yields To No One” Or Kwanmuang – widely regarded as one of the most entertaining fighters in Muay Thai – will make his long-awaited U.S. primetime primetime debut this Friday.
Undefeated across six electrifying bouts in the ONE Friday Fights event series and a four-time Muay Thai World Champion, the 34-year-old Thai is an all-action brawler who doesn’t know the meaning of retreat.
That mindset, coupled with his neverending pursuit of the knockout, creates the recipe for a white-knuckle barnburner each and every time he enters the ring.
