Afghanistan survived an intense fightback from Zimbabwe to win the second Test at Sheikh Zayed Stadium, Abu Dhabi on Sunday. After declaring their first innings at 545/4, Afghanistan dismissed Zimbabwe for 287 and enforced the follow-on. They looked on course for an easy win. But a stunning eight-wicket stand of 187 in 425 balls from Zimbabwe skipper Sean Williams (151 not out) and Donald Tiripano (95) almost forced a draw. As it turned out, Afghanistan had Rashid Khan, who bowled like a machine, delivering 99.2 overs in the match. The legspinner broke that stand en route to claiming another ten-wicket haul. Then there were Hashmatullah Shahidi, who became the first Afghan to score a Test double ton, and skipper Asghar Afghan, who scored an easy-looking ton of 164 runs in the first essay. The fourth innings chase, however, got off to a nervy start with Blessing Muzarabani removing Javed Ahmadi with the sixth ball. Rahmat Shah then hit an unbeaten 58 to see the Afghans home and level the two-match series. Afghans lost the first match by 10 wickets. The two teams will now face off in a three-match T20I series at the same venue, starting Wednesday. Catch highlights here:
