Fresh off his bonus-winning head-kick knockout of Tayfun Ozcan at ONE Fight Night 11 last Friday, Superbon Singha Mawynn is eager to redeem himself and take back the ONE Featherweight Kickboxing World Title.
The Thai superstar’s redemption tour kicked off in spectacular fashion with a truly unforgettable finish, and he’s happy to have done it in front of an adoring home-country crowd at Lumpinee Boxing Stadium in Bangkok.
Following the highlight-reel victory, the #1-ranked featherweight kickboxing contender reflected on what it meant to compete in the historic venue:
“I feel like all my people, the Thai people, they’re watching me. They want me to be the winner, and to show the world Thai people and Thailand and where Muay Thai is. Yeah, I’m so proud of that.”
Indeed, Superbon has plenty of reasons to feel good about his early contender for Knockout of the Year, but he won’t be satisfied until he’s earned a rematch with reigning ONE Featherweight Kickboxing World Champion Chingiz Allazov.
In January, “Chinga” handed the former titleholder a crushing knockout defeat, taking his gold in the process.
Superbon is now dying for another date with Allazov – and another chance to prove he’s still the planet’s best pound-for-pound kickboxer:
“I want to have a rematch, to take my rematch first. Yeah, 100 percent, I’m the best.”
To that end, the 32-year-old says he’s already figured out exactly what went wrong in his World Title loss to Allazov.
With time to adjust and hone his game plan, Superbon is confident things will go his way if and when they meet again:
“It’s going to be different because I saw my mistake from the last fight. We need to go back and practice and train. And we will show you how we will do it. I cannot tell you today, but I will show you during the fight.”
Superbon ‘Closely’ Watching Allazov Vs. Grigorian World Title Fight
As much as he wants a rematch with Chingiz Allazov for the featherweight kickboxing crown, Superbon Singha Mawynn knows that “Chinga” is currently slated to face Marat Grigorian in a highly anticipated World Title main event on August 4 at ONE Fight Night 13 on Prime Video.
The elite knockout artists have already squared off twice back in 2013, with Grigorian winning a decision in the second fight after the first ended in a no contest.
Meanwhile, Superbon is no stranger to either man. In addition to battling Allazov just five months ago, the Thai athlete beat Grigorian in a World Titlie bout last year, avenging a 2018 defeat.
Despite that history, the former divisional king doesn’t have a strong prediction for the upcoming World Title bout, but he’s set on challenging the winner regardless:
“It’s a 50-50 fight for me. Yeah, they fought before. They beat each other. Marat has beaten him before, I’m not sure about the fight. But whoever wins and has the belt, I want to take the belt first.”
Whether it’s a chance at redemption against Allazov or an epic trilogy showdown with Grigorian, make no mistake – Superbon is on a mission to once again hold the most prestigious title in kickboxing, no matter who stands in his way.
With that in mind, he sent a parting message to both of his rivals:
“I hope you guys have a good fight. I will watch closely. I want to take everything from you guys.”
