After being months out, Shreyas Iyer was roped in to the Asia Cup and ODI World Cup squads. However, Shreyas missed the Super 4 matches against Sri Lanka and Pakistan due to back spasm.
But the middle-order batter could be available for the Bangladesh tie on Friday. He was replaced by KL Rahul against Pakistan and Sri Lanka.
However, ahead of the Bangladesh match, Shreyas has rejoined the team for practice. He featured in India's Asia Cup 2023 group games against Pakistan and Nepal, scoring 14 runs against the Men In Green.
KL Rahul has not put a foot wrong ever since he was roped in as a replacement of Shreyas. The wicketkeeper-batter scored a century against Pakistan and made a defiant 39 against Sri Lanka.
In the practice session, Shreyas was seen having a light batting session. Shreyas' strength is his ability to tackle spin bowling as well as strike rotation lower down the order. His availability could be a huge boost for Team India during the Asia Cup as well as the ODI World Cup 2023 starting October 5.
