Asian Games 2023, Athletics Schedule And Live Streaming: Neeraj Chopra-led India Contingent Eyes Big Medal Haul

The athletics programme at the 2023 Asian Games in Hangzhou will run from 29 September to 5 October 2023. Here is all you need to know about Indian competitors, schedule and how to watch

The reigning Olympic and World javelin throw champion, Neeraj Chopra, will lead the Indian athletics contingent at the Asian Games 2023 in Hangzhou, China. Athletics competitions will run from September 29 to October 5. The main venue is the Hangzhou Olympic Sports Centre Stadium. In India, events can be watched live. In the delayed Hangzhou Asian Games 2022, 655 Indian athletes are competing in 39 different sports. The athletics squad of 68 members (35 men and 33 women) is India's largest contingent for any sport.

Aside from Neeraj Chopra, the reigning Asian Games javelin throw champion who won gold in Jakarta 2018, steeplechaser Avinash Sable, Tajinder Singh Toor, the Asian record holder and defending shot put champion, and ace hurdler Jyothi Yarraji will also be in action.

Murali Sreeshankar and Jeswin Aldrin will compete in the men's long jump, Shaili Singh in the women's long jump, and Praveen Chithravel and Abdulla Aboobacker in the men's triple jump.

Swapna Barman and Jinson Johnson -- the reigning heptathlon and men's 1500m champions, respectively -- will be in Hangzhou to defend their Jakarta titles.

The Indian mixed and women's 4x400m relay teams will also compete as defending Asian Games winners, while the men's relay team, which set a new Asian record at the World Athletics Championships 2023 in Budapest, will be the quartet to beat.
