The first mega event of the tennis season is just around the corner. Starting from January 15, Melbourne will host the annual Australian Open 2024 for the next two weeks to crown the first Grand Slam winners of the year. As always, Novak Djokovic will be among the favourites to win the event, especially after his rival Rafael Nadal was ruled out due to an injury. In the recently revealed seedings, Djokovic took the top spot with Alcaraz following in second. Daniil Medvedev came in third, with Jannik Sinner and Andrey Rublev completing the top five. Meanwhile, Iga Swiatek led the charts in the women's category, with Aryna Sabalenka and Elena Rybakina rounding off the top three; Coco Gauff and Jessica Pegula made up the top five.
With the Australian Open qualifiers set to conclude on January 12, competitors will learn their opponents, as well as, brackets in the January 11 draw in Melbourne. The draw will divide the 32 seeded players equally and pair them up with unseeded individuals, charting the paths each player must take to be crowned the champion.
Australian Open 2024 Prize Money
The total prize money for the Australian Open 2024 is a record 86.5 million Australian dollars (INR 481.2 crore approximately). It represents an increase of 13% from the previous year's total, with increases in every round. The women's and men's singles champions will each receive 3.15 million Australian dollars (INR 17.5 crore).
