Hindi cinema has seen many biopics being made on sportspersons from various fields such as cricket, badminton, football etc. The latest cricketer to join the bandwagon is none other than former India cricket captain Sourav Ganguly. As per a report in Peeping Moon, Bollywood producers Luv Ranjan and Ankur Garg are set to make an ambitious biopic on Ganguly and will star popular actor Ayushmann Khurrana. (More Cricket News)
Director Vikramaditya Motwane, known for movies such as Udaan, Looteta, Jubilee etc will be directing the movie.

“Producers Luv Ranjan and Ankur Garg, who are producing this film under their Luv Films banner, have hit a six by bringing together Ayushmann Khurrana and Vikramaditya Motwane. Both have established themselves as formidable forces with an incredible body of work throughout the years.
Ayushmann, also a left-handed batsman like Ganguly, is a perfect fit for his biopic, while Motwane has already proven his mastery with films such as Udaan, Lootera, Bhavesh Joshi Superhero, and Jubilee. Stakeholders are fired up and gung-ho about the kind of cinematic masterpiece they are set to create together. The film will officially be announced soon,” a source familiar with the development was quoted in Peeping Moon.
The former BCCI president's role was earlier destined for Animal star Ranbir Kapoor. However, it has now been reported that Ayushmann will play the role, Also, it had been reported that 2007 T20 World Cup winning captain MS Dhoni was also slated to play a cameo in the movie.
