The third seeded Indian pair made light work of the French duo, defeating them in straight games 21-17, 21-14.

The reigning Asia Games pairing of Satwik-Chirag was dominant from the start and maintained a sizeable lead against the home favourites throughout the match.

The Lucas-Ronan pair however kept themselves in the match by not letting the Indian duo run away with their lead. The match lasted 45 minutes.

Satwik-Chirag will now face Mark Lamsfuss and Marvin Seidel of Germany in their second Group C match on Monday.

Earlier, Lakshya Sen also got off to a winning start in the Paris Olympics. Sen beat Tokyo edition semifinalist Kevin Cordon of Guatemala 21-8 22-20 in a Group C contest of the men's singles.

Sen will next play Belgium’s Julie Carraggi.
