The Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) president Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, accused of sexual harassment of women wrestlers as well as criminal intimidation, has said that he is prepared to take a lie detector test, as long as Vinesh Phogat and Bajrang Punia, two of the wrestlers demanding his ouster, did that too. “I am ready to have my narco, polygraphy or lie detector test but my condition is that along with me Vinesh Phogat and Bajrang Punia should also undergo these tests. If both the wrestlers are ready to get their test done, then call the press and announce and I promise them that I am also ready for this,” the six-term BJP MP wrote on Facebook on Sunday, just hours after a khap panchayat demanded he take a narco test.

Singh’s post further said, “If both the wrestlers are ready to get their test done, then call the press and announce and I promise them that I am also ready for this. I still stand by my words and promise the countrymen to remain firm forever.”

Sunday was when the wrestlers’ 15-day ultimatum to arrest Singh ended. They have hinted they may take their agitation to Ram Lila ground in order to make it a “national movement". They also warned that they may be forced to take a “big decision”, one which might “not be in the interest of the country”, due to the lack of action against Brij Bhushan.

While the wrestlers’ complaints have not resulted in much official action so far, they have found support in Haryana's Rohtak Khap panchayat. The wrestlers have also announced another candlelight march at India Gate on May 23.
