After being inserted to bat by Sri Lanka, England have taken full control at the end of Day 2. Joe Root's Day 1 hundred solidified England's position and on Day 2 it was the turn of Gus Atkinson to get to his maiden Test century. England managed 427 through the two centuries. For Sri Lanka, Asitha Fernando picked up a fifer.
Sri Lankan batters, apart from Kamindu Mendis who hit another half-century, disappointed. The visitors were bowled out for just 196.
England lost Dan Lawrence before the end of Day 2 but had managed to lead by 256 runs.
