After Pakistan scored 274 in the first innings, Bangladesh were in all sorts of trouble, losing their top six for just 26 runs on board. Litton Das and Mehidy Hasan Miraz then combined to put up a solid 165-run partnership for the seventh wicket. Miraz scored 78. Das then put up another impressive partnership for the ninth wicket and completed his century. He fell for 138 and the century ensured Pakistan's first innings lead was limited to just 12 runs. Khurram Shehzad picked six wickets for Pakistan.
By the time the day ended, Pakistan had already lost two wickets for nine runs.
Bangladesh had earlier scripted history by notching up their first-ever Test win over Pakistan in the first game at the same venue. The visitors had cantered to a measly target of 30 runs with all 10 wickets intact, after spinners Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Shakib Al Hasan led the demolition job to bowl the home team out for 146 runs in the third innings.
