Portugal finished their final FIFA World Cup preparations with a comprehensive win over Nigeria in the warm-up game at Estadio Jose Alvalade in Portugal. Fernando Santos’ men will now fly to Qatar for the FIFA WC. Portugal were without Cristiano Ronaldo who missed the training and the game due to gastritis. The Portuguese still cruised to a 4-0 victory over the Super Eagles, thanks to goals from Bruno Fernandes, Goncalo Ramos and Joao Mario. Manchester United’s Fernandes opened the scoring in the 9th minute. The lead was doubled in the 35th minute through Fernandes’ penalty. In the 81st minute, Nigeria were awarded a penalty which Emmanuel Dennis failed to convert. Just a minute later, Ramos tripled Portugal’s advantage, as Raphael Guerreiro registered an assist. Joao Mario scored in the 84th minute to call it a night and hand over a big boost to Portugal before they fly to Qatar for the World Cup. Portugal begin their group stage campaign against Ghana on 24th November.
