The hosts were very dominant, with seven shots on target, and 21 overall, as goals from Ezequiel Vidal and Filip Mrzlijak were more than enough to overpower the Nizams.

Mrzlijak was deservingly adjudged Player of the Match after his impressive showing, creating five chances and also maintaining a 100% pass accuracy.

The match started off on a decent note, but picked up pace as Leander D'Cunha was booked in the 14th minute of the game.

A brilliant free-kick opened the scoring for Punjab as Vidal's left-footed strike saw the bottom left corner.

Nearing the 60th minute mark, both managers made two changes each as Allan Paulista and Abhijith Pa came were introduced by Thangboi Singto for Cy Goddard and Ayush Adhikari.

While for the hosts, it was Vinit Rai and Ezequiel Vidal, who were taken off for Ricky John Shabong and Leon Augustine.

In the 71st minute, Mrzlijak doubled their lead from the right side of the six-yard box following a quick break, and eventually was enough to take all three points.

Punjab FC will next take on Bengaluru FC at the Kanteerava Stadium, while Hyderabad will face off against Chennai at home.
