The shutters of yet another Premier League and Championship season have been closed and locked. There is agony and ecstasy. There is happiness and heartache. There is joy as well as disappointment. (More Football News)

Talking about joining England’s elite, Leicester City won the Championship with 97 points in 46 games losing 11 games. Sailing in the direct promotion to England’s top flight ship with Leicester, were Ipswich Town who accumulated 96 points. With two spots out, one remained.

Four teams, Leeds United, Southampton, West Brom and Norwich qualified for the promotion qualification. Leeds beat Norwich 4-0 in a two-legged tie to book their Championship playoff spot, while Southampton beat West Brom 3-1 to qualify to Wembley.

Fighting it out for one of England’s ultimate prizes, Southampton beat Leeds United in London to become the third and final team to earn promotion for the next Premier League season.

The three teams to have been promoted to the 2024-25 Premier League season:

Leicester City - Championship champions

Ipswich Town - Championship runners-up

Southampton - Championship playoff winners

As stressful as it can get for the fans, relegation battles are intense for the players too. The bottom three sides from the Premier League are relegated and replaced by the promoted teams from the Championship.

Chris Wilder’s Sheffield United had a miserable campaign winning just three games, accumulating 16 points for the season. The Blades also conceded over 100 goals in 28 games and were relegated from England’s top flight.

The skies are not too bright for the other two teams with Burnley also going down having won just five games, winning 24 points in the season. After Vincent Kompany was named the next Bayern Munich manager, the Clarets will have to look for a new boss in command.

The third and final team to drop down were Luton Town with six wins and 26 points. After securing promotion via Championship playoff last season, they enjoyed a year with England’s elite for the first time in 34 years but will make the walk back to the Championship.

The three teams to have been relegated to the 2024-25 Championship:

Luton Town - 18th

Burnley - 19th

Sheffield United - 20th

The 2024/25 Premier League season will start from 17th August, 90 days after the curtains on the 2023/24 season close. The final game week will be played on 25th May, 2025.

The Community Shield, regarded as the curtain raiser for the new season, will be played between League winners Manchester City and FA Cup winner Manchester United on August 10 at Wembley in London, a week prior to the first Matchday of the Premier League.
