Former WFI chairman and BJP MP Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, accused of sexual harassment of multiple female wrestlers, was not exonerated by the government-appointed oversight committee, Delhi police told a city court on Saturday.

During the hearing on whether to charge Singh in the case, the police made the submission before Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Harjeet Singh Jaspal.

“Singh was not exonerated by the oversight committee. The committee had given recommendations, not the decision,” the public prosecutor told the court.

During the proceedings, Singh appeared in court.

The Union Sports Ministry formed an oversight committee led by Indian boxing legend M C Mary Kom to look into the claims made by women wrestlers against Singh following their protest in the national capital.

Its report was not made public, but a copy was sent to the Delhi police, who are investigating Singh's charges.

On September 23, Delhi police will begin their arguments against Singh.
