In the match between Melbourne Stars and Sydney Thunder of the ongoing Big Bash League, a weird incident happened when Pakistan's fast bowler Haris Rauf came to the crease without pads on for batting on the last delivery of the Thunder's innings. Rauf remained at the non-striker's end. (Cricket News)
The incident happened when Daniel Sams was bowling the last over of the first inning and Melbourne Stars were six wickets down. With only six balls remaining, Rauf was not expecting his batting. But Daniel Sams took three wickets back-to-back and Rauf had to come to bat for the last delivery of Stars inning.
In the video, Rauf can be seen coming out to bat with gloves and helmet on but without pads. He also had a bat in his bat. The umpires allowed it as it was the last delivery of the match and Rauf was not on the striker's end. Striker Liam Dawson got run out on the final delivery and Melbourne Stars set a 173-run target for Sydney Thunder.
Sydney Thunder achieved the target with 10 balls and five wickets in hand. Rauf got no wicket in the match and gave 20 runs in his three overs. Whereas, his compatriot Zaman Khan took three wickets for Sydney Thunder.
