South Africa batted first on a batting-friendly pitch in Delhi and put up a mammoth total of 428 runs in 50 overs thanks to the tons of Quinton de Kock, Rassie van der Dussen and Aiden Markram. Sri Lanka fought well but could not reach near to the target. Kusal Mendis, Charith Asalanka and Dasun Shanaka's fifties were not enough as Sri Lanka remained 102 runs shy of the target.
