The 2023 ODI World Cup then, the T20Is against India now. Glenn Maxwell proved again on the night of Tuesday, November 28, 2023 in Guwahati that on his day, he is arguably the most dangerous limited-overs batter in world cricket. (As It Happened | Scorecard | Cricket News)

After a superhuman double century against Afghanistan in ICC Cricket World Cup 2023, Australia's batting all-rounder Maxwell this time targetted India during their bilateral T20 series, smashing an astounding unbeaten century to propel the Aussies to their second-highest successful run-chase in T20I history.

It was Maxwell's fourth T20I century, which is the joint-most tons by any batter in the format alongside Rohit Sharma. Three of those four hundreds have come in run-chases for Maxwell, which is the most by any international batter. All three 100-plus scores from Maxwell have come while batting at number 4 or below, which is also a world record.

Maxwell took 47 balls to get to his century, which is the joint fastest by an Australian, equalling Aaron Finch (against England in 2013) and Josh Inglis (against India in the first T20I of the same series). Maxwell also became the first batter to score a ton in their 100th T20I match, bettering Rohit's mark of 85 against Bangladesh in 2019.

The hard-hitting right-hander's hurricane knock of 104 not out came off just 48 balls, and was studded with eight sixes and as many fours. Australia needed 16 runs to win off the last four balls, when Maxwell unleahsed his fury on a hapless Prasidh Krishna. Maxwell smoked Krishna for a six and three consecutive fours to seal the deal in an exhilarating manner and keep The Kangaroos alive in the five-match series.
