The Indian national men's hockey team reached Hangzhou, China to participate in the 2023 Asian Games here on Tuesday. The Indian team consists of a good mixture of young and veteran players in the team. (More Sports News)
Star defender Harmanpreet Singh will be leading the side with Hardik Singh serving as his deputy.
PR Sreejesh and Krishan Pathak are the goalkeepers for the team. Defenders Varun Kumar, Amit Rohidas, Jarmanpreet Singh, Harmanpreet Singh, and Sanjay have been chosen for the Asian Games. Nilakanta Sharma, Hardik Singh, Manpreet Singh, Vivek Sagar Prasad, Sumit, and Shamsher Singh will hold the midfield, while Abhishek, Gurjant Singh, Mandeep Singh, Sukhjeet Singh, and Lalit Kumar Upadhyay will lead the attack.
The Indian team is in Pool A, alongside Pakistan, Bangladesh, Japan, Uzbekistan and Singapore. India will play Uzbekistan on 24 September. After that India will face Singapore on the 26th followed by Japan on the 28th and Pakistan on the 30th of September. In the last group stage match, India will face Bangladesh on 2nd October.
Pool B consists of Korea, Malaysia, China, Oman, Thailand and Indonesia.
The top two teams from both groups will go into the semi-finals.

On 24th September 2023, India Vs Uzbekistan at 0845 hrs IST.
On 26th September 2023, India Vs Singapore at 0630 hrs IST.
On 28th September 2023, India Vs Japan at 1815 hrs IST.
On 30th September 2023, India Vs Pakistan at 1815 hrs IST.
On 2nd October 2023, India Vs Bangladesh at 1315 hrs IST.
