The Indian men’s 10m air rifle team, comprising Rudrankksh Balasaheb Patil, Divyansh Singh Panwar and Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar, won country's first gold medal at the Asian Games 2023 in Hangzhou on Monday. The feat was achieved during the individual qualification round of the men’s 10m air rifle event at Fuyang Yinhu Sports Centre in Hangzhou. The Indian trio's total of 1893.7 which is 0.4 points more than the previous world record set by Chinese shooters last month in the Baku ISSF World Championship.
Rudrankksh, who finished third in qualification, led India's charge with a sequence of 104.8, 104.3, 104.6, 104.7, 106.3 and 104.9 on the second day of the shooting competition. Aishwary finished with 631.6 (104.1, 105.5, 105.3, 105.7, 105.7, 105.3) while Divyansh contiributed with 629.6 (104.8, 104.3, 104.6, 104.7, 106.3, 104.9).
South Korea clinched the silver with an total of 1890.1, while China claimed the bronze with a score of 1888.2.
Two Indian shooters, Rudrankksh and Aishwary, qualified for the final. Divyansh, despite finishing 8th, missed out as only two shooters from a country can compete in the eight-man final.
