India At Asian Games 2023: Men's, Women's Teams Bag Bronze In Speed Skating 3000m Relay

The Indian women's speed skating team of Karthika Jagadeeswaran, Heeral Sadhu and Aarathy Kasturi Raj and the men's trio of Anandkumar Velkumar, Siddhant Kamble and Vikram Ingale matched India's best-ever roller skating performance at the Asian Games

India's speed skaters won two bronze medals in men's and women's 3000m team relay events to match Indian roller-skating's best-ever performance at the Asian Games, in Hangzhou on Monday. The women's team of Karthika Jagadeeswaran, Heeral Sadhu and Aarathy Kasturi Raj opened India's account on the ninth day of the multi-sport event, ending up with a timing of 4:34.861s. The Indian trio finished behind gold medallists Chinese Taipei (4:19.447) and South Korea (4:21.146). (Medal Tally | Schedule | Full Coverage | Sports News)

Anandkumar Velkumar, Siddhant Kamble and Vikram Ingale then sealed a second bronze with a timing of 4:10.128 in men's team relay. 

Chinese Taipei (4:05.692) and South Korea (4:05.702) took the top-two spots.

Indian roller skaters had won two bronze medals at the Guangzhou 2010 Asian Games in men's free skating and pairs skating events.

Earlier, Aarthy finished fifth in the women's speed skating 10000m point-elimination race while Heerak Sadhu was eliminated. In the men's speed skating 10000m point-elimination race, Anandkumar Velkumar and Siddhant Rahul Kamble came in sixth and seventh, respectively.

Vikram Rajendra Ingale had narrowly missed out on a podium spot in the men's speed skating 1000m sprint event, finishing fourth. Aryanpal Singh Ghuman had finished seventh in the same event. In the women’s speed skating 1000m sprint, Karthika Jagadeeswaran finished fifth.
