India's tour of South Africa 2023-24 will feature three T20Is, three ODIs and two Test matches. The T20Is and ODIs will be played between December 10 and 21, before the attention shifts to Test cricket. The first Test will commence on 26 December in Centurion’s SuperSport Park, and the second five-day game will start on 3 January, in Cape Town’s Newlands Cricket Ground.
The India vs South Africa T20I series will serve as a pre-cursor to the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2024 in June. With Rahul Dravid confirmed to continue as India head coach, this will be his first assignment upon contract renewal. Dravid will aim to lock in the team combination and keep a close watch on performances of youngsters like Yashasvi Jaiswal and Ishan Kishan in the run-up to the mega event, which will be jointly held in the United States and West Indies.
Senior pros Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma will be missing from the IND vs RSA T20I series as they have asked to be rested for the white-ball leg of the tour. Both of them will however be back in action for the two Test matches.
