While Australia toured India earlier this year for various contests, including the IND vs AUS Border-Gavaskar Trophy and the IND vs AUS ODI series, T20Is were omitted from their matchups. The last T20I series between India and Australia occurred immediately before the 2022 T20 World Cup, and India secured a 2-1 win.

Australia's team for the series has been announced with Matthew Wade leading the side. Veteran batter David Warner has been rested following the World Cup triumph. All-rounder Aaron Hardie replaced him in the squad. Following the conclusion of the ODI World Cup 2023, key players like Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli are given a well-deserved break. A younger side with new faces will take on Australia in the IND vs AUS T20 series in their absence. Hardik Pandya, who is recovering from an ankle injury sustained during the ODI World Cup, will miss the series. Suryakumar Yadav will be leading the side in his absence.
